"Truly committed to sustainability"
We are surrounded by 2000m2 of permaculture where we grow maize, beans, and tomatoes in our milpa, the ancient Mayan mixed cropping system, from ancestral seeds sourced from local villages. We have 2.1 hectares of carefully unmanaged forest.
Water is supplied from deep wells and we clean all waste water before returning to the aquifer. Also, we have a 250l solar water heater and a 12 kW photovoltaic system which produces more electricity than we use.
Our buildings use passive ventilation through-out with each internal space having at least 3 ventilation pathways. The buildings are isolated from pathways by thermal breaks. Trees, bamboo, and passion fruit vines give external shade.
Living with us are over 50 species of bird, 10 reptiles and amphibian, 12 mammals, and 80 species of tree.
